Denver International Training Case Study

Onsite training and custom classes were key to DIA's collaboration success.

Since 2009, ASPE and Denver International Airport (DIA) have had a successful training partnership. Almost four years ago, DIA sent one person to a series of public ASPE courses. The idea was to take a "train the trainer" approach, imparting SharePoint skills to one key team leader who could return to the organization with the ability to pass the learning along to the rest of the team.

When DIA was ready to upgrade to SharePoint 2010, it became immediately clear that that a large number of the airport's employees would greatly benefit from training on the new version of SharePoint. Working together, we created a structured curriculum of classes that were customized and tailored to DIA's specific business needs. After building the curriculum we delivered the training onsite at DIA, training a large number of employees in a way that dramatically expedited the SharePoint competency of their teams.

As we delivered the training to DIA's high volume of attendees, the training relationship developed. Denver International was aware that they also had skills gaps related to business analysis, project management, and other enterprise skills that were important to the airport's operation. This led to DIA employees taking advantage of other training opportunities through ASPE. The partnership is ongoing, and DIA's administration has been extremely pleased with the results of their structured training rollout. As a fully satisfied customer, Denver International continues to keep ASPE at the top of their list for training needs.
